Warren Buffett in billion-dollar wind-farm upgrade deal

Major investor Warren Buffett has launched one the most extensive wind-farm repowering orders ever to take place in the US.

Renowned US investor Warren Buffett is to invest up to USD 1 billion through his energy-sector holding company PacifiCorp  in repowering the firm's turbines in the western US states of Washington and Wyoming, news service Rechargenews reports .

The repowering of 11 wind farms, corresponding to 898 MW of capacity, is one the largest deals of its kind in the US, in which owners replace older, and spent components with new and technologically-upgraded parts, thus extending the life-cycle of the equipment without needing to replace an entire unit.
