"When we came out of the stone age it wasn't because we ran out of stone. It was because we found something better. And exactly the same is happening now to coal and oil." Laughter ripples around the room at José Maria Figueres' comment about stone.

The former president of Costa Rica, former CEO of World Economic Forum and sustainability thought leader, is speaking as toastmaster at Danish asset manager Formuepleje's sustainability seminar in the wake of its latest mutual fund launch: The "Better World" fund which hit the market earlier in October.
