Investors demand more transparency regarding climate

Insufficient information about risks to companies in relation to climate change may cause investors to ignore Danish companies that do not disclose how they may be affected by climate changes.

Fewer than 10 percent of Danish companies disclose information about the risks of climate changes, according an analysis from a consultancy and accounting firm KPMG. According to investors, the lack of transparency among companies in regard to their climate change related challenges is making investors look elsewhere, according to Danish business daily Finans. At ATP, Head of Equities Claus Wiinblad says that climate change is increasingly an issue in dialogues with companies that the pension giant chooses to invest in.

"The issue of climate is naturally becoming increasingly important to us. We have increasing amounts of dialogue with the companies on the topic, including how they report about it. We look forward to including climate in their annual report and not just in a separate CSR report,” Claus Wiinblad tells Finance. However, calculating the risk of climate change is no easy maneuver, says Novo Nordisk's VP of Global Sustainability, Susanne Stormer, in the article.
