Ex Catella manager behind Nordic small cap hedge fund launch

In 2016, six investment professionals -- with more than a century and a half of collective experience in the financial markets behind them -- decided to set up a new Nordic asset manager specializing in hedge funds. The Stockholm-based newcomer has just launched its third hedge fund.

On 18 December, 2017, the hedge fund Nordic Small Cap traded for the first time, brought to market by new asset manager, Stockholm-based Nordic Cross Asset Management.

The fund is an equity hedge fund with a long/short strategy, and is run by portfolio manager Mikael Hanell who was co-managing Catella Hedge between 2010-2016. Portfolio managers Ulf Strömsten and Emil Nordström work alongside him.

The portfolio managers use a stockpicking strategy for the long positions in Nordic -- primarily Swedish -- small and mid-cap equities that they expect to appreciate.
