Danish bank opens the ball: Jyske Bank offers a negative interest rate to wealthy private clients

The combination of several geopolitical events and only negative interests rates in sight have led to the introduction of the first negative interest rates on private clients' deposits in a major Danish bank.

Starting December 1, private customers with a sizable deposit in Jyske Bank receive negative interest rates on their regular cash accounts. The bank offers a basic interest rate of -0.6 percent to its wealthiest private customers on deposits exceeding EUR 1m.
