Morgan Stanley: Social bonds must be part of a comprehensive portfolio

Despite massive new issuances of social bonds, the market is still too narrow, according to Morgan Stanley IM. Also, implementing sustainability into bond portfolios is a way of creating fixed income portfolios with social bonds.

Social bond issuances have surged in the wake of the coronavirus outbreak earlier this year. But even though issuances this year have surpassed total issuances so far, the asset class is still too narrow to constitute a comprehensive bond portfolio.
