Major Danish pension funds own coal mine shares worth more than EUR 134m

Although Danish pension companies boast of being green investors, they invest a total exceeding DKK 1 billion in companies operating coal mines.

Denmark's 11 biggest pension funds own stakes in the 30 largest publicly traded coal mine companies worth a total exceeding DKK 1 billion (EUR 134.3 million), and in the three biggest coal mine stocks alone, the total pension investment comes to more than DKK 750 million, writes Danish business daily Børsen.

Companies Pensiondanmark, Lærernes Pension and Industriens Pension have all rid themselves entirely of coal mine shares.
