
Danish pension firm, Lærernes Pension, providing retirement savings schemes for school teachers, maintains investment in 26 coal companies despite having officially excluded such assets since 2017, according to information from AMWatch’s Danish sister media, FinansWatch, which compared a series of listed shares in Lærernes’ portfolio with data on fossil energy companies provided by German NGO and research group Urgewald.
In its latest report on social responsibility, the pension fund otherwise states in a that ”since 2017, Lærernes Pension has excluded coal, oil extraction from tar sands, and Arctic drilling.”
