Norwegian head of insurance closes the circle and returns to Copenhagen

New head of Gjensidige in Denmark has only worked in the insurance sector for seven years. However, his long and international career in corporate finance working with IPOs and M&As has cushioned the Norwegian economist for senior level jobs in the insurance sector.

Mats C. Gottschalk's career in insurance was kickstarted at a meeting in Copenhagen, and now he has returned to head the Danish branch of Norway's largest insurance company, Gjensidige.

As of 1 September, he assumed the position as head of Gjensidige Denmark and replaced Kim Rud-Petersen. AMWatch's sister site, FinansWatch has talked to him about his career in finance that brought him from JP Morgan in London, through to Goldman Sachs to Gjensidige in Norway, and now back to Denmark.
