Seasoned Danish manager trio launches own thematic hedge fund

A long-held dream is coming true for three Danish portfolio managers. Having managed institutional funds and hedge funds for decades, the three money managers decided to start their own unleveraged hedge fund that uses thematic investing with an emphasis on structural changes.

Weather-wise, Denmark may be freezing right now under a layer of snow, but the climate for launching a hedge fund is warmer and more welcoming than it has been for years.

"Interest rates have gone down, down, down during the past three decades. We even have negative interest rates in Europe. The stock markets in Europe and especially in the US have only known one way since 2009 -- up. Tactically, the timing couldn't be better for a fund that is meant to perform under tougher market conditions," Michal Danielewicz, who is founding partner and portfolio manager at the newly launched St. Petri Capital tells AMWatch.
