First Fondene poaches well-known portfolio manager after unsuccessful fund launch

After a surprising turn of events last autumn, Norwegian portfolio manager Thomas Nielsen was suddenly without a job. Now he has been recruited by asset manager First Fondene.

After four years as a manager of the successful Oslo-based real estate fund Odin Eiendom, Thomas Nielsen resigned from Odin last summer after accepting an offer to establish a new fund for Sparebank 1 Kapitalforvaltning. Three weeks into the new job, however, his new employer surprisingly opted to mothball the project as part of a so called strategic decision.
