John Hydeskov has been promoted to the newly-created position of Head of Investments at Danish pension fund alliance P+. Previously Chief Risk Officer at the jointly-held firm -- which administers the pension fund for lawyers and economists, (JØP) and the pension fund for engineers (DIP) -- Hydeskov will now be responsible for its liquid assets.
Hydeskov is now a member of the pension fund's investment management team, consisting of Anders Christian Schelde, Head of Alternatives, and Mikkel Svenstrup, CIO, to whom Hydeskov reports.
"I've spent the past year and a half building the foundation from a risk perspective, and I look forward to further developing our risk-based investment strategy. We've mainly focused on creating a more risk-diversified portfolio to give our pension savers a better risk-adjusted return. Previously, our risk was mostly allocated towards equities," Hydeskov says, and adds:
"In the past few years, volatility has been very low, and we, as investors, have become accustomed to our Bloomberg Terminal mostly being green when we come to work. However, I've been in the financial markets long enough to know that markets can turn sour almost overnight."
