
Finnish pension giants Varma and Ilmarinen’s investments rapidly recovered from negative 2018 returns during the first quarter of this year.
Varma’s investments yielded a return of 5.1 percent, up from -0.4 percent from Q1 last year, while Ilmarinen's portfolio pulled in a convenient 4.6 percent in the first quarter against -0.1 percent from the same period last year. Listed equities were the best performing asset class in both companies, yielding 13.1 percent at Varma and 11 percent for Ilmarinen.
