Danish pension funds' private market investments have grown by a third in two years

Over the past two years, insurance and pension companies have invested over EUR 13.4 billion (DKK 100 billion) in unlisted investments, which is significantly more than investments made in listed investments, new figures from the Danish central bank show.

Insurance and pension funds' investments in private markets have increased by 33 percent over the past two years. Investments in wind turbines, unlisted companies and real estate have increased from EUR 81 billion (DKK 606 billion) in January 2018 to EUR 107 billion (DKK 803 billion) in December 2019. The increase was equally due to new investments and value increases.
