Qblue Balanced hires senior portfolio manager from AQR

Danish asset manager Qblue Balanced reels in a senior portfolio manager, who spent the past five years at AQR Capital Management, marking Qblue Balanced's second new recruit in a short period.

Copenhagen-based asset manager Qblue Balanced has hired Esben Hedegaard as Senior Portfolio Manager as of September 1, the company announces.

Hedegaard has spent the past five years (2015-2020) at the US asset manager AQR Capital Management, where he worked in the commodities research team as well as in the portfolio construction team.

He holds a PhD in finance from the NYU Stern School of Business, where he studied between 2007-2012. Before moving to New York, Hedegaard spent three years (2004-2007) as an analyst at Danske Market's quantitative research unit.

In addition to his PhD, Hedegaard has a master's degree in Statistics from Copenhagen University (2002-2004)

Second hire

At the end of August, Qblue Balanced also hired Amanda Ladeira Pereira as its new sales and relationship manager for the Nordics and EMEA. Pereira worked as a senior fixed income and derivative sales manager at Danske Bank (2014-2020)

QBlue Balanced was co-founded in 2018 by Bjarne Graven Larsen, former Chief Investment Officer at ATP and Ontrario Teacher's Pension Plan. Graven Larsen serves as the company's CEO.
