Skorstad: Fund managers neglect trading impact on portfolio performance

A good portfolio manager doesn't necessarily excel at trading, and fund managers often underestimate how poorly executed trading impacts performance, says Erling Skorstad, who is now looking for an executive role after leaving his role as COO at Nordea Asset Management.

Many fund managers underestimate how the trading of large quantities of stocks and bonds can hurt portfolio performances when executed poorly, according to Erling Skorstad.

At the end of 2020, Skorstad left his role as Chief Operating Officer of Nordea Asset Management (NAM) where he spent the past five years unifying and optimizing the company's trading processes.
