Nordics need facts not trust for cybersecurity debate, says segment specialist

The Nordic region has the highest levels of social trust in the world. Tom Van de Wiele, principal security consultant at F-Secure, notes that excessive interpersonal trust in a society can, however, make it harder for finance companies, to comprehend the need to continuously maintain a safe IT structure. The ongoing Covid-19 pandemic has made attacks easier in several ways.

A major issue in maintaining the IT security among Nordic companies is that, because of the lack of understanding of the present threat landscape, not enough companies formally test how vulnerable their IT systems are for potential cyberattacks, says Tom Van de Wiele, principal security consultant at F-Secure.
