CIO of Church Pension Fund: Church ethics made us invest sustainably before many others

The pension fund of the Evangelical-Lutheran Church in Finland has been shifting fixed income investments from government bonds to short-term interest rate investments. At the same time, the fund has moved towards alternative investments, particularly more variety in real estate assets.

Finland's EUR 1.8bn Church Pension Fund (KER) pulled in the best returns among Finnish pension funds and insurers in 2020, a recent comparison by Finnish Centre for Pensions (ETK) reveals.
