Swedish fund association petitions government and FSA to allow splits in funds with Russian securities

The association wants more protection for savers with money in funds with Russia exposure due to the recent stock exchange closures and buy and sell bans. It proposes splitting liquid and currently illiquid holdings into two funds to protect savers from being locked in without opportunities to sell.

The Swedish Investment Fund Association has issued a formal proposal to the government and the regulatory authority for a solution to help savers that currently have money invested in Russia funds, or funds with a certain exposure to the country’s market.
