Prudential’s CEO plans asset manager expansion and growth overseas

Prudential Financial Inc. plans to expand its asset-management arm and boost its overseas presence, putting to work capital freed up under a business overhaul by Chief Executive Officer Charlie Lowrey.

Prudential, which is based in Newark, New Jersey-based is targeting growth in its PGIM unit through acquisitions, with an infrastructure manager among potential targets, CEO Charlie Lowrey said in an interview at Bloomberg’s headquarters in New York. The seller of life insurance and other financial services also plans to expand in markets including China and India, he said.
