New climate targets pose a challenge to some of the Finnish Church fund's current investments

The pension fund of Evangelical-Lutheran Church in Finland has set new interim climate targets for 2025, which include reducing the carbon intensity and increasing the share of green-themed investments. Not all funds in the church’s current investment portfolio are set to be fully in line with the new climate strategy, says Head of Responsible Investments Magdalena Lönnroth.

The availability of climate-related data on illiquid asset classes is one of the main challenges in investing responsibly, says Magdalena Lönnroth, portfolio manager and head of responsible investment at the pension fund of Evangelical-Lutheran Church in Finland, Kirkon eläkerahasto (KER).
