Investment manager Barings has appointed Andreas Norberg as Head of Nordics Real Estate, where he will lead the firm’s regional investment activity within the asset class from its office in Stockholm.

“Barings has an enviable reputation of combining on-the-ground knowledge and global expertise to deliver excellent results for its clients. With an appetite to source further investments in the logistics, office and living sectors, I look forward to further developing Barings’ established position in the market and feel we have a strong opportunity to build on the team’s first-class work,” Norberg says in a statement forwarded to AMWatch.

Norberg joins Barings, which has USD 371bn in assets under management, from CBRE Investment Management where he has worked for more than six years, most recently as head of investment operations and a member of its European leadership. Prior to CBRE IM, Andreas worked with Swedish real estate owner Kungsleden and CBRE’s capital markets team.

At Barings, Norberg fills the vacant position left by Thorsten Slytå, who departed Barings in December 2021 for a similar role at BlackRock.

Norberg will be responsible for building up Barings’ position in the Nordics real estate market, which is one of its preferred geographies in its priority investment sectors of logistics, offices and alternatives, the statement reads.

In March, Barings signed several logistics deals in the market, including the forward purchase of a development project in Gothenburg for USD 52.4m in an off-market transaction.

In his new role, Norberg will work with Gunther Deutsch, who leads European transactions, and Charles Weeks, Barings’ Head of Real Estate for Europe and Asia Pacific.

”After recently further expanding our footprint in the Nordics, including the forward purchase of a major logistics development in Gothenburg, Andreas joins the team in an important period of growth for Barings in the market and across Europe. With an impressive track record of supporting investment strategies through major transactions,” Charles Weeks, Head of Real Estate for Europe and Asia Pacific at Barings, comments in the statement.

”Andreas will lead our work in the Nordics as we build momentum, develop our already healthy pipeline of projects, and seek out others in our preferred investment sectors across a range of value-add and core assets,” Weeks continues.
