University fund expects geopolitical tensions to boost carbon-neutral portfolio

The CIO of Helsinki University’s fund, Anders Ekholm believes that whilst disruptions due to unforeseen events can generate temporary setbacks, the net effect of geopolitical tensions will be reduced reliance on fossil fuels, which will help the university on its journey towards a carbon-neutral portfolio by 2030.

Going forward, geopolitical tensions can induce greater volatility in the climate-related performance of the fund of University of Helsinki. This is what the CIO of the EUR 675m university fund Anders Ekholm writes in the university’s fresh Investments Report 2021.
