Norwegian insurer criticized for lack of transparency in oil and gas investments

Gjensidige Forsikring claims that it is possible to work in line with the Paris Agreement while simultaneously investing in fossil fuel companies. Climate organizations say they should divest or put stricter requirements in place.

On its website, Norwegian insurer Gjensidige Forskring writes that one of its investment aims is to contribute to a more sustainable world. It also states that the company will be open to transparency for its actions as an investor.

”To an increasing degree, we need to document and present this to external interested parties, so they can assess us on the basis of publicly available information,” its ethical guidelines state.
