Pension fund real estate valuations criticized

The Danish FSA’s guidance for pension firms about how to value real estate and other alternative investments does not seem to be being followed by everyone, a financial commentator says.

European real estate companies lost almost 30% of their value during the first half of 2022 ­ but Danish pension firms are reporting positive returns on real estate investments during that period. This is not only a Danish phenomenon, though. Several Nordic pension companies have reported positive returns on their real estate investments.
