Invesco braces for index battle as Nordic institutions turn to passive products

Ilmarinen, Pensam and Varma have recently allocated billions of euros into passive strategies with ESG credentials, and more institutional investors will follow in the years to come, according to an Invesco survey. But is a core index with minor tweaks and exclusions still enough to classify it as an ESG product? AMWatch went to an Invesco duo for answers.

Nordic pension funds such as Ilmarinen, Pensam and Varma are examples of institutional investors which in the past 12 months have allocated billions of euros into exchange-traded funds and other index strategies with a bespoke ESG overlay.
