Threat to world's most endangered apes compels oil fund to ban three companies

A gold mine in Northern Sumatra is threatening the natural habitat of the rare Tapanuli orangutan. For that reason, Norway’s oil fund has added more companies to its exclusion list.

Norway’s mighty oil fund has banned three companies from its investment universe due to an “unacceptable risk of (…) contributing to or being responsible for severe environmental damage” on the Indonesian island of Sumatra, a press release reads.
