Despite heavy Q4 losses on Heimstaden investment, Alecta performs above industry average

Sweden’s largest commercial pension firm had a difficult year and has lost a lot of customer trust. Nevertheless, Alecta delivered positive returns and claims to be in a strong financial position.

The value of Swedish pension giant Alecta’s investment in the beleaguered real estate firm Heimstaden Bostad decreased significantly in the final quarter of 2023. But while the write-down did affect Alecta’s return figures, the pension company still delivered a relatively high return on its investments last year.
